Expert Usability Reviews

We can identify the parts of your site or application that are difficult to use or understand.

We evaluate things like the page/form layout, navigation, element placement, use of controls and aesthetic balance. We also consider the psychology of typical users and how they typically react to different circumstances and stimuli.

Our reviews contain prioritised recommendations with examples and background information.

Accessibility

We look at how easily a web-site or application can be used and how accessible it is across a range of different scenarios.

These scenarios include:

• Use of assistive settings in the computer's operating system;
• Use of screen-readers for visually impaired users;
• Adherence to best practise for use of things such as colour and labelling;
• Reliance on third-party plug-ins and configurable items.

It is now a legal requirement to make every effort not to discriminate against users with special needs.

This includes everyone from visually-impaired users to people with cognitive or learning difficulties.

We can advise on suitable ways to ensure that your application or website does not discriminate unwittingly - and help you identify any problem areas that you might have.

Real User Feedback

It's easy to get carried away with expert usability tests and forget that most users are not experts. This is why we not only offer comprehensive expert reviews but strongly recommend backing this up with valuable feedback from real users.

We can offer co-ordinated reviews of your website or application using real people selected from a panel of independent users. This panel includes people across a wide-range of backgrounds, ages and ability levels. Each review can consist of a custom questionnaire which the user will complete, with an optional screencast video of that user actually using your website or application. This provides enormous insight into how effective your design is and how it is received by real people.
