We found that working within the requirements stages of larger projects can be inherently complex; everyone wants to be involved and there are a large number of workshops, meetings and ad hoc discussions, each requiring lots of time and attention. This is difficult to control without a structured approach, but conventional methodologies were found to be too complicated and unwieldy, or else a poor fit for specifying and delivering effective interactive systems.

To address this, we looked at the way that we worked with our customers and what did and didn't work. The resulting workflows were refined and formalised into a structured methodology which we named protoSMART™.

protoSMART™ is a contemporary methodology designed to combine business analysis techniques, stakeholder management, interactive prototype development and user feedback in a controlled manner.
